Industrial Pipe Supplier

As Oklahoma’s premier industrial piping supplier, Mattsco has a variety of industrial pipes to fit your needs.

Industrial pipes can be used for gathering, transportation, and distribution pipelines. Your project will determine which pipes to use, as some projects require piping that can withstand high pressure while others need pipes that can move slow-flowing liquids.

There are three types of pipes:

  1. Chrome Pipes
  2. Seamless Pipes
  3. ERW Tubes

Our piping supply comes in various lengths, from ¼” to 36”, depending on the material and the type of pipe you need.

The most commonly used type of piping are PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) pipe for plumbing purposes and carbon steel pipe for industrial applications, including steam and heat transfer systems. But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right option for your project. If you have any questions, contact one of our Mattsco experts, and we can help figure out the best pipe and supply to fit your needs.

Chrome Pipes

Chrome piping, also known as chrome tubing, is classified as a corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA). This makes it a good choice for projects that require pipes that can withstand high temperatures and pressures, such as power plants, petrol chemical plants, refineries, and oil field services.

Chrome pipes are composed of Molybdenum (Mo), which increases the strength of the steel, and Chromium (Cr), which is an essential component of stainless steel.

Chromium is the hardest metal on Earth—even outperforming Titanium with a rating of 8.5 on the Moh’s hardness scale compared to Titanium’s score of 6.

Seamless Pipes

A seamless pipe, sometimes called a seamless pipe, is manufactured without joints or welding points.

The manufacturing process is what makes this pipe seamless. The pipes are crafted by heating and piercing a billet, a solid steel cylinder, then rolling it or stretching it to the desired length, diameter, and thickness.

Since seamless pipes can withstand extreme temperature and pressure, have high resistance to internal erosion, and are incredibly durable, they’re most commonly used in projects like:

  • Gas lines
  • High-pressure processes in refineries
  • Hydrocarbon industries
  • Oil and gas infrastructures

This durability from not having joints and welding points makes them our go-to pipe.

While seamless pipes come in various materials, we highly recommend carbon steel seamless pipes at Mattsco. This is because they are incredibly resilient to stress, fatigue, and breakage, and they come in the greatest variety of schedules and grades.

Although seamless pipes are stronger and more durable than ERW piping, we understand that your project (and project budget) may not require the most robust option.

ERW Tubes

ERW tubes are welded pipes that are treated with an electric resistance welding (ERW) process. While they may not be as strong as their seamless counterparts, they are more cost-efficient to produce and their wall thickness is more consistent than seamless pipes.

ERW pipes are most commonly used in industries such as:

  • Engineering
  • Fencing
  • Scaffolding
  • Automobiles
  • Water and gas
  • Conveyance
  • Agriculture

The most common specification for ERW pipes is A53, but you can discuss the necessary specifications for your project with a Mattsco expert to discover the best option.
